Guitar – Ian Brick first picked up the guitar at the age of 14 after a sports injury prevented him from pursuing anything of athletic interest. His first serious music lessons took place at A Lotta Music in his hometown of Medford, New Jersey, and within two years he was asked to work with the CMA. After his exposure to jazz and contemporary music in high school, Ian decided to pursue music full time and enrolled at the University of the Arts. In May of 2010 he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in jazz performance. His most influential teachers include Shawn Christie, Dave Manley, T

om Giacabetti, Mike Quaile, and Kevin Hanson. He has performed at numerous venues in the Philadelphia area including the Prince Theater, World Café Live, Merriam Theater, Kimmel Center, Starland Ballroom, and the Academy of Music. Presently, Ian lives in Philadelphia and continues to nurture the music community as a performer, educator, and composer.

Frank Butrey - Guitar Lessons

FRANK BUTREY –  Studio Instructor
Guitar –Frank Butrey graduated from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania with a BA in Guitar Performance and Studio Teaching. He has studied classical guitar with Dimitri Erdeley and jazz improvisation, composition and arranging with Basil Ronzitti, Ed Flanagan and Steve Giordano. Frank has backed such headliners as Bobby Vinton, Englebert Humperdink and Marvin Hamlisch. He has been a first-call guitarist for the Erie Philharmonic and Chautauqua Symphony.

Frank currently has an active career performing at many well-known venues, concerts, jazz festivals, private affairs and other settings such as radio and television. Some of the venues include: The Kimmel Center, African American Museum, Philadelphia Museum of Art in Philadelphia, PA, the Bitter End, Small’s Jazz Club, The Nuyorican Poets Café in New York City, Trump Plaza, Atlantic City, NJ, Rutgers – Camden Center for the Arts, Camden, NJ, Cape May Jazz Festival, Clifford Brown Jazz Festival, West Oak Lane Jazz Festival and the Falk Theater in Tampa, FL. His critically acclaimed trio, Field Theory, has opened concerts for Woody Shaw, James Blood Ulmer, Susan Vega, Oliver Lake, Ritchie Cole, Airto and others. They were televised in concert for the PBS station WQLN.

Frank can be heard on his CD, Frank Butrey with Field Theory – “Life and Times,” Kayle Brecher’s CDs “Choices,” “The Pride Inside,” “Urban Objects,” “Spy music” and “Spirals and Lines,” saxophonist Malik Al Kabir’s CD “Giant,” “Truth Is” by vocalist Sherry Wilson Butler, “Courage” by Nina Fletcher and “Love and Peace on Christmas” by keyboardist Joe Patterson. Frank is featured as performer and composer on Warren Oree and the Arpeggio Jazz Ensemble’s CDs “Lifeline” and “Man Bites Dog.” Regular performances with Arpeggio have included the 2002 Dominican Republic Jazz festival. Bill Corvino _ Guitar LessonsBILL CORVINO – Studio & In-Home Instructor
Guitar – Bill Corvino currently performs with Moot Davis, The Kelli Campbell Trio, Bocco Socks, High Noone Express and solo. He teaches guitar as an Adjunct Professor of Music at Mercer County Community College and also at the Conservatory of Musical Arts in Audubon, NJ. Bill graduated from the Berklee College of Music in Boston with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance – Cum Laude. He has performed and/or recorded in the past with Kenny Vaughan, Paul Evans, The Drifters, The Penguins, The Dovells, Jim Heffernan, George Rabbai, The DTM Project, The Country Majestics and many others. He has performed live for many years throughout the region as well as nationally (NYC, Nashville, LA, Las Vegas, Austin, Houston, Washington DC, etc.) and abroad (U.K., France). He is currently involved in recording sessions for Moot Davis’ upcoming CD on Crow Town Records in Nashville and LA with legendary guitarists Marc Ford and Kenny Vaughan producing.

Guitar – Jack Prucella has a Bachelors Degree in Music and Communication from LaSalle University and a Masters Degree in Music Theory from Temple University. He also has a Music Education Certification from Chestnut Hill College. Jack has been teaching guitar, bass guitar, and piano for 25 years and elementary school classroom music for 20 years. His experience as a performer includes solo guitar work, both acoustic and electric, and appearances with numerous bands, both original and cover. Jack currently performs in the duo Jack and Lore (acoustic guitar/flute), playing classical, jazz, pop, Broadway, and original music at private functions, clubs, and festivals.

 

Greg Snyder - Guitar LessonsGREG SNYDER – Studio & In-Home Instructor
Guitar –Greg is a musical “jack of all trades” on guitar. His passion lies within the jazz genre. Graduating from Temple University with a performance degree in jazz studies, Greg now performs regularly in Philadelphia, New York City and the outlying regions. Greg has had the privilege of working with such greats as Gene Perla, George Rabbai, and Jon Burr and has performed at the Kimmel Center, the Iridium, the Bitter End, World Café Live, and the Kennedy Center. Greg currently holds a faculty position at LaSalle College High School surrounded by some of the best musicians/educators in the area. “Jack of all trades, master of none” is the phrase in its entirety, although Greg will tell you that he is not a master of anything and that he continues to learn and improve at everything. In the meantime, Greg is one of the busiest working guitarists in the area. Greg actively plays in a jump swing/rockabilly band, a New Orleans style blues band, an acoustic rock act, a pop/country act, a fusion band, multiple jazz duo groups and multiple straight-ahead jazz groups in addition to his personal jazz trio.  Greg also plays classical guitar, so he will play Bach and Beethoven at a wedding ceremony in the afternoon, and make his way to a funk/dance band hit that night. Additionally, Greg works in musical productions and has recently come off of the second national tour of the musical production, The Color Purple. Greg began teaching in the year 2000 and has never stopped. He has taught all over the greater Philadelphia area including Paul VI High School, Bishop Shanahan High School, Bucks County Piano, Wissahickon Arts Center, and Planet Harp…Greg is a “jack of all trades” and as busy as ever. 


Bob Whitt - Guitar LessonsBOB WHITT – Studio & In-Home Instructor
Bass/Guitar – Born in Pt. Pleasant, NJ and based in the rich Philadelphia music community, Bob Whitt is a bassist and guitarist who maintains a regular performance schedule spanning several music genres. Bob is also an experienced educator. Bob has been a Sr. Lecturer at the University of the Arts for 4 years. He has been teaching guitar and bass lessons in the community for over a decade. Bob holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in music from the University of The Arts (‘06), Some groups he has played with include The Sacred Orchestra, The Dave Stahl Big Band, The Elizabeth Ross Quartet, and with comedian Joan Rivers. He has appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman backing guest artist Chamillionare and Slick Rick. Bob has recorded with Steven Tirpak (John Legend, Jay-Z) on his album “Who Cares.” Other highlights include a live broadcast on Radio 104.5FM with singer/songwriter Alexis Cunningham, as the bassist for The Philadelphia Jazz Project’s “Diva Nation”. He is the bandleader of Dreamtime, one of the busiest 14 piece party bands in the region. His other work in music includes engraving, where he takes composers’ hand-written scores and puts them into music notation software to be published. He now resides in South Jersey with his wife Janine, also a musician and teacher.
