Seth_HanesSETH HANES – Studio Instructor
French Horn – Originally from South Carolina, Seth began his musical studies in the sixth grade playing trumpet before switching to the horn a year later. Since coming to Philadelphia, Seth has had the privilege of playing with many of the wonderful ensembles in the region, including The Great Hall Orchestra, City Rhythm Orchestra, Curtis Institute of Music, and many more. While in school, he had the great privilege studying with Denise Tryon and Jeff Lang of the Philadelphia Orchestra.

Seth now maintains an active freelancing schedule around the Philadelphia area and is the founder, manager, and hornist for New City Brass. As a teacher, he has the great pleasure of maintaining an active studio at the Conservatory of Musical Arts in Audubon, NJ. Seth also is the Assistant Director of a new concert series in Port Richmond/Kensington neighborhoods called Music at St. Anne’s.

In addition to playing horn, Seth also enjoys composing, arranging, and tinkering with instrument repair. Outside of music, Seth enjoys reading about all kinds of books, blogging, and biking around the city.
